GARAGE DOOR OPENER REMOTE INTERFERENCE

I had a recent request from a customer that their remote control only worked some of the time.

Response:

If your Garage Door Opener remotes and or outside keypad only work intermittently. You may have some type of interference.

You can follow these easy steps to help determine the cause of your garage door opener radio frequency interference.

Funny fact, the FCC part 15.3 (o) States that any Baby monitors, cordless telephone, or garage door openers, can generate interference and must accept interference.

Part One:  Check to see if you have LED lights installed in the garage door opener. If so, remove the LED lights from the garage door opener and check to see if your remotes work now. If you also have other LED lights in the Garage, they may also cause interference.

Part Two: Change the batteries in your remote devices and check to see if your remotes work now.

Part Three: Reprogram all remote devices and check to see if your remotes work now.

Part Four: Turn off all transmitting devices in your house. examples are Wi-Fi, wireless security systems, and so on. Check to see if your remotes work now.

Part Five: If you tried to eliminate all these possibilities and the Garage Door Opener radiofrequency is still being interfered with, a possible solution would be extending the antenna to an area just above the garage door close to the outside.

Hopefully, that will solve your interference problems. If this doesn't solve your problem, there may be a problem with the board in the opener.
